  1. 12 ago 2023 · No. He's not at all underrated in LotR. Everyone loved his performance. It's iconic. He is underrated in Titanic, though. If I were picking the most underrated actor in the LotR movies, I would go with Brad Dourif as Wormtongue. He nails it, but I never see his performance mentioned. Reply reply. Lupus_Borealis.

  2. 14 dic 2022 · I respect everyone else’s opinion here, but personally TO ME, his acting was the only acting where I thought to myself “man this guy is just acting” versus being totally immersed in their performance.   3. I thought the same thing too. He looked much older than he actually was when Titanic was filmed. He was in his early 50s back then. RIP Mr. Bernard Hill. You're acting was stupendous! I swear I thought the same too, but I think we’re all thinking of David Warner, who played Lovejoy and passed about 2 years ago.

He originally read for Gandalf, but the time commitment deterred him from pursuing it any further (the filmmakers had McKellen in mind for the role, anyway) and he accepted the role of Theoden, over early candidates Patrick Stewart and Kevin Conway.
