Georg Michaelis (8 September 1857 – 24 July 1936) was the chancellor of the German Empire for a few months in 1917. He was the first (and the only one of the German Empire) chancellor not of noble birth to hold the office.

Uomo politico tedesco, nato l'8 settembre 1857 a Haynau (Slesia). Laureatosi in legge ed entrato, nel 1879, nella magistratura, si recò poi, nel 1885, a Tōkyō a insegnarvi, nell'università, diritto e scienza politica.
Georg Michaelis was a Prussian civil servant who became the German chancellor in 1917, but resigned after a few weeks due to conflicts with Reichstag parties. He also played a key role in the war food economy and the peace negotiations, and later became a senior president of Pomerania.
