Stanislaus Hosius (* 5. Mai 1504 in Krakau ; † 5. August 1579 in Capranica bei Rom ) trat als katholischer Theologe für die Erhaltung des Exempt -Status des Fürstbistums Ermland und Erhaltung oder Wiedergewinnung des Katholizismus im Ermland und im Königreich Polen ein.
Stanislaus Hosius was a Polish cardinal, one of the most significant figures of the Counter-Reformation. Consecrated bishop of Chełmno, Pol., in 1549, he was transferred to East Prussia (1551), from where he conducted his campaign by convoking synods, fighting heresy, and rallying Roman Catholics.
