Denis Diderot (Langres, 5 ottobre 1713 – Parigi, 31 luglio 1784) è stato un filosofo, enciclopedista, scrittore e critico d'arte francese, uno dei massimi rappresentanti dell' Illuminismo e uno degli intellettuali più rappresentativi del XVIII secolo.

Uno dei maggiori rappresentanti dell' Illuminismo francese (Langres 1713 - Parigi 1784). Figlio di un artigiano, fece i primi studî in un collegio gesuitico e fu per breve tempo avviato allo stato ecclesiastico; si trasferì a Parigi, ove ottenne il titolo di maître ès arts (1732).
Denis Diderot, filosofo e scrittore francese, nasce il 5 ottobre 1713 a Langres, una cittadina di provincia da una famiglia borghese benestante. Dopo aver studiato presso il collegio gesuita della città, si trasferisce a Parigi per iscriversi all'Università dove si laurea brillantemente nel 1732.

DIDEROT, Denis. Enciclopedista, nato a Langres in Champagne il 5 ottobre 1713, morto a Parigi il 30 o il 31 luglio 1784. Figlio primogenito d'un agiato coltellinaio, il D. venne destinato dapprima allo stato ecclesiastico: a otto anni fu messo a studiare presso i gesuiti di Langres, e a dodici ebbe la tonsura.
