Johann VI. von Nassau-Dillenburg, genannt der Ältere, (* 22. November 1536 in Dillenburg; † 18. Oktober 1606 [1] ebenda) war Statthalter von Gelderland von 1578 bis 1581. Er war der Sohn des Grafen Wilhelm des Reichen von Nassau-Dillenburg und dessen Ehefrau Juliana von Stolberg. Er regierte ab 1559 die nassau-dillenburgischen Stammlande .
The counts of Nassau in Dillenburg were the continuation of the main line of the Ottonian counts of Nassau, although only the 2nd oldest after The Netherlands Nassaus/house of Orange-Nassau. John VI is called the "elder", but this is not in relation to his older brother William the Silent, but in relation to his son, John VII "the Middle" and his grandson, John VIII "the younger".
