It is the main town and the administrative seat of Sønderborg Municipality (Kommune). The town has a population of 28,137 (1 January 2023), [1] in a municipality of 74,380. In recent times, Sønderborg is a center for trade, tourism, industry, and education in the region of Southern Denmark.
Sønderborg (deutsch Sonderburg; Sønderjysk bzw. Alsisk Synnebårre) ist eine Stadt in der Region Syddanmark in Dänemark am Als Sund nördlich der Sønderborg Bugt (Bucht), unweit der Grenze zu Deutschland. Ab 1970 war die Stadt ein Teil der Kommune Sønderborg, die 2007 mit sechs Nachbarkommunen zur Großkommune Sønderborg vereinigt worden ist.
