Kitchener came to prominence for his imperial campaigns, his involvement in the Second Boer War, and his central role in the early part of the First World War.

Lord e maresciallo inglese, nato nel 1850 a Gunsborough Lodge in Irlanda. Sottotenente del genio nel 1870, si arruolò nel 1871 nell'esercito francese, poi fu riammesso nell'esercito inglese. Trascorse gran parte della carriera nelle colonie.

Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener was famous for colonial victories in the Sudan and South Africa. Later, he helped build Britain’s first mass army and became the face of the First World War when he appeared on the ‘Your Country Needs You’ poster.
