  1. Georg Alexander, Duke of Mecklenburg (German: Georg Alexander Herzog zu Mecklenburg; 27 August 1921 – 26 January 1996) was the head of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz from 1963 until his death.

  2. Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Russian: Георгий Георгиевич Мекленбург-Стрелицкий; 6 June 1859 – 5 December 1909) was the eldest of the two surviving sons of Duke Georg August of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and of Grand Duchess Catherine Mikhailovna of Russia.

  3. He has been heir apparent to the headship of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz since the death of his grandfather Duke Georg Alexander on 26 January 1996. Since that date he has held the title Hereditary Prince which is the title reserved for the heir apparent.

  4. Georg’s elder son Georg Alexander succeeded as head of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. His widow Charlotte survived him by twenty six years dying on 23 July 1989 at the age of 68. Honours

  5. Leben. Georg Alexander wohnte bis 1940 auf dem bis dahin der Familie verbliebenen Schloss Remplin bei Malchin. In der Nacht zum 11. April 1940 brannte das Schloss ab, mutmaßlich auf Veranlassung der NS-Gauleitung von Mecklenburg-Lübeck, weshalb sich die Familie gezwungen sah, nach Berlin zu ziehen.
