Jeanne would become a respected journalist and poet, encouraged by both portrait artist John Butler Yeats and his son, the great poet William Butler Yeats. In 1916, Jeanne began to publish narrative verse about the Adirondacks, producing Neighbors of Yesterday and Wild Apples.
