Kassel (region) Kassel is one of the three Regierungsbezirke of Hesse, Germany, located in the north of the state. It was created in 1866 when Prussia annexed the Electorate of Hesse, forming part of the new Province of Hesse-Nassau. It was enlarged following the incorporation of the former Free State of Waldeck in 1929.

Kassel è una città extracircondariale situata sul fiume Fulda, nell'Assia settentrionale, nella Germania centro-occidentale. Kassel è capoluogo del distretto governativo di Kassel (Regierungsbezirk) e del circondario rurale (Kreis) dallo stesso nome. La città conta 204 202 abitanti ed occupa una superficie di 106,77 km².
