Sigmaringen ist eine baden-württembergische Kreisstadt. Die ehemalige Residenzstadt der Fürsten von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen gehörte nach Auflösung des Fürstentums ab 1849 zum Königreich Preußen, ab 1918 zum Freistaat Preußen und von 1947 bis 1952 zum Land Württemberg-Hohenzollern .
