The Duchy of Brzeg ( Polish: Księstwo Brzeskie) or Duchy of Brieg ( German: Herzogtum Brieg; Czech: Knížectví břežské) was one of the Duchies of Silesia, created in 1311 during the fragmentation of the Duchy of Wrocław. A Bohemian fief from 1329, it was ruled by the Silesian Piasts until their extinction in 1675.
Giovanni Cristiano di Brieg (in lingua tedesca: Johann Christian von Brieg ; in lingua polacca Jan Chrystian Brzeski; Oława, 28 agosto 1591 – Osterode in Ostpreußen, 25 dicembre 1639) fu duca di Brzeg – Legnica – Wołów (dal 1602; con suo fratello co-regnante a Legnica e Wołów fino al 1612; a Oława fin dal 1605).
Christian of Brieg-Legnica was a Duke of Liegnitz/Legnica, Brieg/Brzeg, Wohlau/Wołów and Oława. Since 1664, he was the sole ruler as Duke of Legnica-Brzeg-Wołów-Oława. He is descended from the Legnica branch of the Silesian Piasts dynasty.
