This is a list of lieutenant generals in the United States Army since 2020. The rank of lieutenant general (or three-star general) is the second-highest rank normally achievable in the U.S. Army, and the first to have a specific number of authorized positions for it set by statute.
Lieutenant General is a three-star General Officer rank, one pay grade above the highest permanent rank of Major General. Lieutenant General is a temporary position reserved for times of war, and expires with the end of the general's active tour of duty, usually 3 to 5 years.
