The Buchan School (Manx: Yn Scoill Buchan) is an independent primary school in the south of the Isle of Man, catering for children aged 3–11. It is the junior school of King William's College.
Our archive collection contains a wide selection of photographs, magazines, trophies, uniform and other assorted objects from King William’s College and The Buchan School’s history. We are continually adding to this collection and are developing a digital archive.
The College operates at two sites in or near Castletown: a main senior school campus on the shore of Castletown Bay, and a prep school (called The Buchan School) in the Westhill part of Castletown, two miles from the main campus.

24 apr 2024 · The Buchan School is located within the ancient capital of Castletown. With partially wooded grounds, an outdoor classroom, adventure playgrounds, rose garden and performance stage, pavilion, sport fields, netball and tennis courts, our students have plenty of space to explore and learn.
The school moved to its present site at Pease Pottage after World War II in 1946. The school is housed in a Grade II-listed Victorian mansion known as Buchan Hill that was built in 1882–3 by Philip Felix Renaud Saillard. The building is a large Elizabethan-style house, designed by the architects Ernest George and Harold Peto.
The Buchan School, the junior school and nursery (2 - 11 years), provides the finest education in idyllic and tranquil setting in the picturesque town of Castletown, in Isle of Man. Its vision statement, “Aim for excellence in all things”, forms the basis to the teaching and learning.
