Arthur Leigh Allen (December 18, 1933 - August 26, 1992) was an American sex offender and the prime suspect in the Zodiac Killer murders. Allen first become a suspect when a friend of Allen’s, Don Cheney, in 1971, reported him to the police, Cheney met Allen in 1962 and became friends in 1968.
During the 1990s several investigators claimed to have identified the Zodiac killer; the suspect most often cited was Arthur Leigh Allen (1933–92), a Vallejo, California, schoolteacher who had been institutionalized in 1975 for child molestation, though his identification with the Zodiac killer has never been substantiated.
