George Brunies. Jazz trombonist, who came from a famous New Orleans musical family. He was known for being an accomplished and flashy player in the New Orleans Rhythm Kings (1922-1924), Ted Lewis's band (1925-1934), Muggsy Spanier's band (1939) and his own band (from 1949).
George Brunies took his trombone with him to Chicago to play gigs and go to after-hours clubs along with Paul Mares. They met their future bandmates at this club, Frank Snyder, Elmer Schoebel, and Jack Pettis, drummer and pianist.
