Julie Payette CC CMM COM CQ CD FCAE (French pronunciation: [ʒyli pajɛt]; born October 20, 1963) is a Canadian engineer, scientist and former astronaut who served from 2017 to 2021 as Governor General of Canada, the 29th since Canadian Confederation. Payette holds engineering degrees from McGill University and the University of Toronto.

Julie Payette, née le 20 octobre 1963 à Montréal [1], est une scientifique, administratrice et femme d'État canadienne. Astronaute en chef de l' Agence spatiale canadienne entre 2000 et 2007, elle participe aux missions STS-96 et STS-127 .
Julie Payette, Canadian astronaut and governor-general from 2017 to 2021. She flew on two spaceflights: STS-96 in 1999 and STS-127 in 2009. She resigned as governor-general after a Privy Council Office report found that she had harassed and bullied her employees.
Payette was Chief Astronaut for the CSA from 2000 to 2007. NASA experience: Ms. Payette reported to the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, in August 1996. She completed basic astronaut training in April 1998 and was assigned to work on technical issues in robotics for the Astronaut Office.
Julie Payette is the first Canadian astronaut to board the International Space Station, which she went to twice (1999, 2009). She served as the chief astronaut for the Canadian Space Agency from 2000 to 2007. From 2013 to 2016, she was chief operating officer for the Montreal Science Centre and vice president of the Canada Lands Company.
