17 dic 2014 · This is all very well for a creature with red and blue photoreceptors, but suppose it was seen by a creature which had a magenta-sensitive receptor, but no red or blue. Would the colour appear the same (insomuch as a qualititave concept can appear the same, I suppose I mean 'Would they interpret it as colour of the same wavelength?')?
'Sky blue' and 'Navy blue' are different colors, but there are different shades of sky blue and navy blue. The color of a leaf does not resemble the color of the sky. It's not a darker shade, they're not both the same thing lumped in a group word, they're two things I see quite differently that apparently a lot of people don't learn separate words for, and that's freaky.
In the past, due to the relative difficulty and high expense of creating blue dye, the color was often associated with royalty, giving rise to terms such as “royal blue” and “blue bloods”. The latter term is also based on a simple physical observation: If your skin is pale, you can easily look at your wrists and notice any number of blue veins under the skin.

The Pantone colours (186 for the red and 280 for blue) are the official ones for the Union Flag and all UK derivatives ( Bartram 2004 ). I know they are quite dark, but then so are the Union Flags that follow the official specification.
