Sandringham is a village and civil parish in the north of the English county of Norfolk. The village is situated 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of Dersingham, 12 km (7.5 mi) north of King's Lynn and 60 km (37 mi) north-west of Norwich. [1] The village's name means 'Sandy Dersingham'.

Early history
Sandringham is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "sant-Dersingham" (the sandy part of Dersingham) and the land was awarded to a Norman knight, Robert Fitz-Corbun after the Norman Conquest. The local antiquarian Claude Messent, in his study The Architecture on the Royal Estate of Sandringham, records the discovery of evidence of the pavements of a Roman villa near Appleton farm.
