Biografi. Hon var född i en adlig hugenottfamilj som dotter till Alexandre d'Esmier d'Olbreuse och Jacquette Poussard du Bas-Vandré et de Saint-Marc. Hon blev 1661 hovdam åt Marie de la Tour d'Auvergne vid det franska hovet i Paris. År 1664 medföljde hon Marie de la Tour d'Auvergne till Hessen, där hon mötte hertig Georg Wilhelm av Lüneburg-Celle, som blev förälskad i henne.

Éléonore Desmier d'Olbreuse (3 January or 7 January or 9 January 1639 – 5 February 1722), was a French noblewoman, who became firstly the mistress and later wife of George William of Brunswick, Duke of Lauenburg and Prince of Celle. She was the mother of Sophia Dorothea of Celle, who was the wife of George I of Great Britain. Thus she is the maternal grandmother of George II.
Unica figlia di Giorgio Guglielmo, duca di Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle, e della sua amante Eleonora d'Esmier d'Olbreuse, Sofia Dorotea nacque il 15 settembre 1666. Il padre era figlio del duca di Brunswick-Lüneburg Giorgio mentre la madre, di fede ugonotta , era figlia di Alessandro II d'Olbreuse, marchese di Desmiers.
