2 giorni fa · Mary, Queen of Scots (8 December 1542 – 8 February 1587), also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland, was Queen of Scotland from 14 December 1542 until her forced abdication in 1567. The only surviving legitimate child of James V of Scotland, Mary was six days old when her father died and she inherited the throne.

The colony was founded in 1585, but it was visited by a ship in 1590 and the crew found that the colonists had disappeared under unknown circumstances.

6 giorni fa · In 1587, Hideyoshi sent his first envoy, Yutani Yasuhiro (柚谷康広), to Korea, which was during the rule of King Seonjo, to re-establish diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan (broken since the wokou raid in 1555). Hideyoshi hoped to use this as a foundation to induce the Korean court to join Japan in a war against China.
21 mar 2024 · Educated at Christ Church, Oxford, he travelled on the Continent during most of the period 1578–83. In 1585 he entered Parliament, and from 1585 to 1587 he fought against Spain in the Netherlands under his uncle, Robert Dudley, earl of Leicester. He was knighted in 1586.

Francesco married Johanna of Austria, and with his consort produced Eleonora de' Medici, Duchess of Mantua, and Marie de' Medici, Queen of France and Navarre.
