8 mag 2020 · A Better Tomorrow (che titolo stupendo per un noir al fulmicotone come questo: un domani migliore…) è il frutto della collaborazione tra il genio di Tsui Hark (e del suo Film Workshop, mai abbastanza celebrato) e di John Woo il quale prima di questo film aveva realizzato una ventina di pellicole, delle quali nessuna lo aveva soddisfatto.

This story is the tale of two brothers: one a successful counterfeiter and the younger a fledgling graduate of the HK police academy. The plot revolves around the split when the younger brother learns the other is a criminal and the efforts of the criminal brother to reform. Along the way are plenty of heists, double-crosses, and shoot outs.

5 feb 2002 · A Better Tomorrow is the film that turned Woo into a legend. Produced by Tsui Hark, it practically invented the “heroic bloodshed” genre and reinvented Woo’s career. Unfortunately, watching it now after having fallen in love with Hard Boiled and The Killer, it really pales in comparison. The film follows Mark (Chow Yun-Fat) and Ho (Ti Lung).
