Biografia. Appartenente alla celebre dinastia dei Brueghel (era figlio di Jan il Giovane e nipote di Jan Brueghel dei Velluti; il suo bisnonno era il celebre Pieter Bruegel il Vecchio ), Abraham Brueghel trascorse, al contrario dei suoi familiari, quasi tutta la vita in Italia, dove giunse nel 1649 .
Abraham Brueghel (baptised 28 November 1631 – c. 1690) was a Flemish painter from the famous Brueghel family of artists. He emigrated at a young age to Italy where he played an important role in the development of the style of decorative Baroque still lifes.
Abraham Brueghel. Pittore, 1631-1697. Figlio del pittore Jan Brueghel il Giovane, Abraham svolge il suo primo apprendistato nella bottega paterna e nel 1655 è documentata la sua presenza nella gilda di Anversa. Nel 1659 si trasferisce a Roma, dove compare iscritto nell’Accademia di San Luca.

The Brueghels’ familiar snowy scenes and biblical or classical images often convey multiple meanings, revealing the complexity of life in the Low Countries (present-day Belgium and the Netherlands) in the 16th and 17th centuries, when rule by the Catholic Habsburg Empire was being challenged by the schisms of the Protestant Reformation.
