It was located in the Rue Notre Dame des Champs in the art district of Montparnasse and was established towards the end of the 19th century by painter Auguste Joseph Delecluse (1855-1928). Its principal teachers included the founder, Georges Callot (1857-1903) and Paul Delance (1848-1924).
