History. The School of Performing Arts was created in December 1965, at the same time as the College of Arts and Sciences and other schools were created. It housed the dance, theater and music programs and ran the Academy of Dramatic Art (ADA) from 1967 to 1977.

23 feb 2022 · Alumni. February 23, 2022. Share this story. Curtis Armstrong. Actor, producer, writer and OU alumnus Curtis Armstrong, a 1975 graduate of Oakland University’s Academy of Dramatic Art, is returning to his alma mater to engage with current students and fellow alumni.
27 apr 2023 · He attended an Academy of Dramatic Art (ADA) branch at OU which was part of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) located in London. At the time, the RADA was considered by many to be the best acting school in the world, but they couldn’t keep Englund’s draft deferment for the Vietnam War.
