The Actors Studio / New York is a creative home and administrative headquarters for both the New York Actors Studio and its only branch, Actors Studio West, located in West Hollywood, CA. It offers acting sessions, playwright/directors unit, and public performances of new works by its members and guests. It also provides a library and a 99-seat theatre for its members.
The Actors Studio is an association of artists who share a common philosophy of acting based on the Method of Lee Strasberg. Founded in 1947 by Elia Kazan, Cheryl Crawford, and Robert Lewis, the Studio offers private workshops, public projects, and a Masters degree program at Pace University.
