Prince Adolphus Frederick was born at the Queen's House, which is now part of Buckingham Palace, on 24 February 1774, he was the seventh son of King George III and his queen, Charlotte of Mecklenberg-Strelitz and was the youngest son of George III to survive childhood.
Description. Prince Adolphus is wearing the uniform of Colonel of the 1st Regiment of Hanoverian Guards, and the star of the Order of the Garter. He was the 10th child and seventh son of George III and Queen Charlotte. At the age of 12, he was sent, with two of his brothers, to university in Göttingen.
