6 mar 2023 · In his first season in Philadelphia, Holland emerged as one of the top relievers in all of baseball, pitching in nearly every close game over the season’s closing months and anchoring a bullpen that led the Phillies to the National League pennant and a trip to the 1983 World Series.
Al Holland was 8-4 with 25 saves and a 2.26 ERA with Philadelphia in 1983. He won the 1983 NL Rolaids Relief Award, finished sixth in the NL Cy Young Award voting and ninth in the NL MVP race. (National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum)
