Salma bint Harmalah also known as Al-Nābiġah ( Arabic: النابغة; lit. 'genius') was the mother of the prominent Sahaba Amr ibn al-A'as. [1] She lived during the 6th century and was a contemporary of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Her son Amr become Muslim in 630s. He became one of the greatest Muslim military leader.
Amr's mother was al-Nabigha bint Harmala from the Banu Jallan clan of the Anaza tribe. She had been taken captive and sold, in succession, to several members of the Quraysh, one of whom was Amr's father.

His works were among those collected in the Muʿallaqāt. Nābighah belonged to the tribe of Dhubyān. The origin of his name (“The Genius of Dhubyān”) is uncertain, as are details of his early life.
Al-Nabigha al-Dhubiyani was a pre-Islamic Arabian poet from Banu Dhubyan who spent most of his life at the courts of Hirah and Ghassan. His poems consist of eulogies and satires and were edited by Wilhelm Ahlwardt and H. Derenbourg. Al-Nabigha is one of the six eminent pre-Islamic poets whose poems were collected before the middle of the 2nd century of Islam.
