Albert Eckhout (c.1610–1665) was a Dutch portrait and still life painter. Eckhout, the son of Albert Eckhourt and Marryen Roeleffs, was born in Groningen, but his training as an artist and early career are unknown. A majority of the works attributed to him are unsigned.

21 feb 2024 · Albert Eckhout's reputation and career as a painter were made on a Dutch expedition to northeast Brazil from 1637 to 1644. A group of artists, including Eckhout and Frans Post, accompanied the newly appointed Dutch governor-general, Johan Maurits, count of Nassau-Siegen, to document the country's plants, animals, and people.
