Albert V was the son of former King Albert of Sweden and Agnes (II) of Brunswick-Lüneburg, daughter of Duke Magnus II, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Albert III died in 1412 and, in accordance with an agreement with John IV, Agnes acted as guardian and regent for Albert V. In 1415 or 1416 he started ruling for himself.
John Albert I. John Albert I, in older literature known as John or Johann (23 December 1525 – 12 February 1576), was the reigning duke of Mecklenburg-Güstrow from 1547 to 1556 and of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1556 to 1576. In 1549 John Albert I saw to it that the parliament of Mecklenburg carried through the Reformation for the entire duchy.

He was the youngest child of Duke John I and his third wife Agnes of Lindow-Ruppin. Albrecht I was probably born in 1367. After his father's death, he ruled Mecklenburg-Stargard jointly with his elder brothers John II and Ulrich I. In 1395 he moved to Livonia to become coadjutor to bishop Dietrich Damerau of Dorpat.
