Ferdinand Albert was the fourth son of Ferdinand Albert I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Christina Wilhelmina of Hesse-Eschwege. Albert VII, the Handsome (1486–1547), Duke of Mecklenburg-Güstrow; married, on 17 January 1524, Anna of Brandenburg and had issue. Death. Like her daughter Anna of Mecklenburg-Schwerin over two decades later, Sophie insisted on being buried far from home.
Ulrich I was probably born before 1382. After his father's death in 1392 or 1393, he ruled jointly with his brothers John II and Albert I (d. 1397). In 1408, Ulrich and John divided the country. Ulrich received the Lordships of Neubrandenburg, Stargard, Strelitz and Wesenberg. He chose Neubrandenburg as his residence.
When Magnus died in 1503, his sons Henry V and Albert VII at first ruled jointly over the entire Mecklenburg duchy until its renewed division by the 1520 Neubrandenburg Treaty.
