Alexander Yakovlevich Davydov (Russian: Александр Яковлевич Давыдов; Kureika, November 6th 1917 – 1987) was a Soviet Red Army major and, allegedly, the illegitimate third son of Joseph Stalin.

Storia. Il nome deriva dal violoncellista russo Karl Davydov, al quale fu fornito dal suo mecenate, il conte Wielhorsky, presso la corte dello zar Alessandro II. Il violoncello presenta diverse ammaccature dovute all'incuria alla quale fu soggetto in quel periodo. Dopo la morte di Davydov, il violoncello venne venduto a Parigi nel 1888.

Davydov è noto per i suoi studi di fisica e di ottica molecolare. I suoi principali contributi riguardarono la teoria dell'assorbimento, diffusione e dispersione della luce nei cristalli molecolari. Nel 1948, predisse il fenomeno che è noto come frazionamento di Davydov.
