Ambrogio Dudley era il quarto figlio di Sir John Dudley, poi visconte Lisle, conte di Warwick e duca di Northumberland, e di sua moglie Jane Dudley, duchessa di Northumberland.
Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick, KG (c. 1530 – 21 February 1590) was an English nobleman and general, and an elder brother of Queen Elizabeth I's favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
Un edificio in legno fu eretto nel castello per il suo soggiorno, durante le visite della regina Ambrose Dudley, III conte di Warwick, le lasciò il castello. Quando Ambrose Dudley morì nel 1590, il titolo di conte di Warwick si estinse per la seconda volta.

Nel gennaio 1553 il Parlamento approvò la successione di suo figlio maggiore John, che divenne secondo Conte di Warwick. Morì giovane nel 1554 ed il titolo si estinse fino a quando non fu ripreso nel 1561 per suo fratello minore Ambrose Dudley, III conte di Warwick. Ambrose fu Master-General of the Ordnance e Lord Luogotenente di Warwickshire.
Ambrose’s early career began in 1549 when he was around the age of nineteen or twenty. He is recorded as serving with his father against the Norfolk rebels, now commonly referred to in historiography as ‘Kett’s rebellion’.

He was laid to rest in the Beauchamp Chapel of the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick.
