American Music Club was an American, San Francisco-based indie rock band, led by singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel. Formed in 1982, the band released seven albums before splitting up in 1995. They reformed in 2003 and released two further albums.

Mark Eitzel was one of the most important rock poets of the 1990s. His career started with American Music Club, a folk-rock group which anticipated the new current of nocturnal singer songwriters, and ended with solo albums. In both Eitzel expressed, with a frank timidness, a solemn existential pessimism.
