The American School in Japan (ASIJ; Japanese: アメリカンスクール・イン・ジャパン) is an international private day school located in the city of Chōfu, Tokyo, Japan. The school consists of an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school, all located on the Chōfu campus.
We offer an American-style college preparatory curriculum for international families in Tokyo. From fostering character and resilience to promoting global citizenship and critical thinking, our core values shape well-rounded individuals.
Moving to Japan? Choose the right international school for your children, and join the ASIJ community. Admissions are open for both the K-12 Chofu campus and Early Learning Center (nursery, pre-school, kindergarten) in Roppongi.
ASIJ is the only international school in Kanto with the space to deliver a fully-rounded, experiential academic and co-curricular program, but many of the core facilities on our Chofu campus were designed and built in the 1960s.

The American School in Japan (ASIJ) is an independent, co-educational day school serving students of all nationalities. Founded in 1902, ASIJ offers an American-style college preparatory education for the children of international families, including those on temporary assignment, as well as families who make Tokyo their permanent home.
