Angela Zhou’s birth took place on March 17, 1992, in Guangzhou, China. She was born to Chinese parents- her mother is of Hakka descent (a Chinese ethnic minority group) while her father is Cantonese. She was raised in Auckland, New Zealand by her parents. She is the only child and has no siblings.

While a student in high school Angela Zhou rarely missed the opportunity to act in musicals, dramas, and classical productions. She also trained with SGCNZ's Young Shakespeare Company at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. After college graduation, Zhou moved to Los Angeles where she worked odd jobs while auditioning for roles. Over the years Angela Zhou has appeared in the TV series Stitchers (2016-2017) as Coco Soo, Supergirl (2018) as Dr. Grace Parker, and MacGyver (2020) as Jennifer Kwok. She portrayed the role of Tori Lang in the short film Canary in a Coal Mine(2018), which she also wrote and produced. Her debut film appearance is in the film Promising Young Woman (2020) as Todd.
