Despite exploring the similar theme of women empowerment through sexual control, the humor misses its mark, leaving the shell of irony in its place.

Angelica is kinda amazing. It's a problematic script that isn't saved by shoddy editing. The fact that it has great set designs and interesting costumes, along with an Oscar nominated cinematographer can't be saved. However, for me to truly explain just how hilarious this film is I have to spoil stuff.
Angelica ( Angélique) è un film del 2013 diretto da Ariel Zeitoun e tratto dal romanzo Angelica la Marchesa degli Angeli di Anne e Serge Golon. Interpretato da Nora Arnezeder nel ruolo protagonista, è un remake dell'originale Angelica del 1964, con Michèle Mercier e Robert Hossein .

24 nov 2017 · Angelica’s themes and ideas wouldn’t come across nearly so powerfully if Lichtenstein’s film didn’t fire on all cylinders elsewhere, too. Despite what I suspect is a small budget, Angelica is a sumptuously-appointed piece of work, for which we can thank Mike Leigh ’s regular director of photography Dick Pope , and Rita Ryack ’s elegant costuming.
