Dame Mary Anne Salmond ONZ DBE FRSNZ (née Thorpe; born 16 November 1945) is a New Zealand anthropologist. She was New Zealander of the Year in 2013. In 2020, she was appointed to the Order of New Zealand, the highest honour in New Zealand's royal honours system.

Anne Salmond writes about climate change, the restoration of rivers, forests and the ocean, and has won an international reputation as an environmental thinker. She has delivered a number of keynote addresses on freshwater debates in Bergen and Vancouver, and on relations between people and the sea in Oslo, Cambridge and Munich.
