On leaving preparatory school in the summer of 1943, Antony Armstrong-Jones received a far-from-complimentary report. His headmaster wrote that the 13-year-old ‘may be good at something, but it’s nothing we teach here’.

Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon (7 March 1930 – 13 January 2017), commonly known as Lord Snowdon, was an English photographer and filmmaker. He was married to Princess Margaret, younger daughter of King George VI and younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II .
