27 feb 2024 · Anton Ivanovich Denikin was a general who led the anti-Bolshevik (“White”) forces on the southern front during the Russian Civil War (1918–20). A professional in the Imperial Russian Army, Denikin served in the Russo-Japanese War (1904–05) and in World War I (1914–16).

He is most famous as a leader of the White movement in southern Russia and Ukraine, and as the author of memoirs and journalistic articles.

Anton Denikin was born the son of a retired border guard officer in Poland. His own military career began in the artillery, from which he entered the General Staff Academy.
