Arthur Rankin Jr. était un producteur, réalisateur et scénariste américain, né le 19 juillet 1924 à New York dans l'État de New York (États-Unis) et mort le 30 janvier 2014 [1]. Il est le cofondateur de la société de production Rankin/Bass avec Jules Bass .
History. The company was founded in New York City by Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass on September 14, 1960, as Videocraft International, Ltd. The majority of Rankin/Bass' work, including all of their "Animagic" stop-motion productions (which they were well known for), were created in Tokyo, Japan.

Arthur Gardner Rankin, Jr. was an American director, producer and screenwriter, who mostly worked in animation. Co-creator of Rankin/Bass Productions with his friend Jules Bass, he created stop-motion and traditional animation features such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, and the 1977 cartoon special of The Hobbit.
After serving as an ensign in the Navy during World War II, Arthur Rankin, Jr., found his career behind the camera, working initially for RKO Radio Pictures' international division before joining the newly formed ABC television network as a graphic designer in 1948.
