Il Libro di Giuseppe e Aseneth o Storia del bellissimo Giuseppe e della sua sposa Aseneth è un apocrifo dell'Antico Testamento scritto in greco tra il I secolo a.C. e il I secolo d.C., probabilmente nell'ambito della diaspora giudaica in Egitto. Nel V secolo d.C. è stato rielaborato in ambiente cristiano e tradotto in siriaco.

27 lug 2022 · Aseneth protects Dan, Gad, Naphtali, and Asher—four of Joseph’s brothers—even after they conspire with Pharaoh’s son to kill Joseph and kidnap her. She shows mercy and forgiveness. At the end of the story of Joseph and Aseneth, the Egyptian throne passes to Joseph, and he rules for 48 years.
Joseph is successful and, among other favours, Pharaoh arranges that Joseph marry a high-born Egyptian woman called Asenath. Asenath has two sons who will be essential to the Israelites’ later history: Manasseh and Ephraim, who will be the forefathers of two of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Joseph and Asenath is a narrative that dates from between 200 BCE and 200 CE. It concerns the Hebrew patriarch Joseph and his marriage to Asenath , expanding the fleeting mentions of their relationship in the Book of Genesis .
