Bartholomew Gosnold (1571 – 22 August 1607) was an English barrister, explorer and privateer who was instrumental in founding the Virginia Company in London and Jamestown in colonial America. He led the first recorded European expedition to Cape Cod.

Bartholomew Gosnold (born c. 1572, Grundisburgh, Suffolk, Eng.—died Aug. 22, 1607, Jamestown, Va.) was an English explorer and colonizer. The eldest son of an English country squire, Bartholomew Gosnold attended Cambridge University before marrying and settling at Bury St. Edmunds in the late 1590s.
