Her third album, Beachwood Canyon, was released in 2016. Early life and education. Jemma Griffiths was born in Penarth, Wales, a small town near Cardiff on 18 May 1975. Jem originally found her passion for singing and songwriting whilst attending Stanwell School.
The title, Beachwood Canyon, brings to mind sixties folk albums and Jem's third album is very reminiscent of those works released by Carole King and Joni Mitchell. Of course, she isn't exactly as gifted a songwriter or as adroit a guitarist but these songs are inviting, layered with embracing vocals and intriguing reverb.
