Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez’s comic series Borinqueña, features an Afro-Indigenous Latina that is selected by the indigenous spirits of Puerto Rico to defend Borinkén. The series is reminiscent of the superhero comic tradition with familiar panel styles and sequencing of the story.
One night, she goes to Cueva Ventana during a storm and makes a shocking discovery about La Estrella Del Camino, which results in her receiving her powers from Atabex, Huracan, and Yucahu.
