Vlad and his younger brother, Radu, were held as hostages in the Ottoman Empire in 1442 to secure their father's loyalty. Vlad's eldest brother Mircea and their father were murdered after John Hunyadi, regent-governor of Hungary, invaded Wallachia in 1447.

1 giorno fa · Stoker discovered the name "Dracula" at the old public library. One scholar has suggested that Stoker chose Whitby as the site of Dracula's first appearance in England because of the Synod of Whitby , given the novel's preoccupation with timekeeping and calendar disputes.
8 mar 2023 · Bram Stoker died on 20 April 1912, the cause of his death is debated. He suffered from many strokes but some think it was due to tertiary syphilis, and others believe it was due to overwork. He was cremated and his ashes are at Golders Green Crematorium, London. His son’s ashes are with him.
