5 giorni fa · The college was founded in 1509 by William Smyth, Bishop of Lincoln and Sir Richard Sutton and took the place of the much earlier Brasenose Hall and Little University or King's Hall. The Old Quadrangle was begun at this date, but the Kitchen Wing may be of the 15th century.
21 ore fa · Robert Burton (8 February 1577 – 25 January 1640) was an English author and fellow of Oxford University, who wrote the encyclopedic tome The Anatomy of Melancholy . Born in 1577 to a comfortably well-off family of the landed gentry, Burton attended two grammar schools and matriculated into Brasenose College, Oxford, in 1593, age 15.

In 1941 Brasenose College sold 350 a. at Burrough and 260 a. in Somerby and Pickwell, which was the full extent of its holding in the district, to Mr. E. E. Cook of London for £26,500.
