By early 1975, Fox and Peters decided to try again with a new lineup that included Fox's old friends, vocalist Bubba Keith, who had been playing out in LA with a band called Uncle Tom and guitarist Richard Shack who had previously played in the band Case of E.T. Hooley with Peters.

Point Blank was an American rock band hailing from Irving, Texas, United States. The band formed in 1974 in Irving, Texas, and recorded six albums between 1974 and 1982. [1] Garnering occasional airplay on AOR radio stations, the band is best known for their only hit single, "Nicole", from 1981. Point Blank broke up in 1983.

In 1975, Fox and Peters reformed the group, adding Bubba Keith (vocals, guitar) and Richard Shack as new members (guitar). Predictably, the James Gang’s most recent incarnation only survived for two unappreciated albums, 1975’s Newborn and 1976’s Jesse Come Home, before calling it quits for good.
