24 apr 2024 · After narrowly losing last year’s state championship, the Buchholz High School (BHS) math team had something to prove at this year’s contest. Their persistence paid off. Buchholz students not only returned state champs, but they also brought home a total of 231 total awards, including 22 team and individual first place awards.

(WCJB) - Several schools in Alachua County placed high in the state’s math championship with one coming out as the overall winner. Buchholz High school’s math team came out as the champions, marking this as the 16th time the team has won the competition.

The district says Buchholz earned a total of 7,444 points, decisively beating rival American Heritage Broward, which earned 7,133 points.
